In order to deliver our market-leading software and services, we rely on the skills and expertise of our employees. From industry influencers to 8th grade pianists, from marathon runners to expert cake makers, our employee spotlight is designed to shine a light on just a few of the talented individuals who work at networx. This month we have been chatting with our Training Manager, Rob Baker to find out more about his role and love of the Yorkshire Dales!
How long have you worked at networx?
I’ve been at networx now for almost 7 years and I have loved every minute of it!
What does your job entail?
As Training Manager, my day to day role is all about delivering tailored training sessions for our clients and supporting the roll out across their organisation by ensuring that keys users can confidently use our software to recruit.
Sometimes a client might just need a call or a few screenshots. This job is all about helping people and giving them knowledge.
In order to support the ongoing use of our software I am also responsible for creating and updating our own standard help guides as well as creating bespoke training material in line with client requests.
Naturally as Training Manager, internal training is a large part of my role as well especially as our technology is constantly evolving. The majority of internal training involved updating our sales teams and account managers on new features/functionality, but as I am also DPO ( Data Protection Officer) for networx I also ensure that annual GDPR & InfoSec training is conducted and skills matrices are constantly reviewed an updated in line with our policies.
The role of DPO definitely keeps me busy too, as I am largely responsible for record keeping, dealing with candidate requests and complaints, assisting clients and reviewing (and often negotiating on) terms within 3rd Party Processor Agreements. Any new development also need to be reviewed in order to ensure that as a company we remain compliant.
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
I would be running a little campsite somewhere in France, living la belle vie!
We’d most likely be down in Provence, the Dordogne or the Lot Or maybe even the Charente Maritime coast. Plenty of sunshine with great food and drink.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
We try to get away as often as we can as a family in our motorhome. You don’t have to drive far to get to great sites up in the Dales, Lakes or Moors.
It’s a home from home that allows you to just pack up and go! The dog loves it too.
What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?
I appeared with a team on Eggheads…. And we won!
I think this is why I have been nominated as the networx quiz master! I do love a good quiz and it’s great fun compiling them – especially the music rounds.
Where’s your favourite place in the world?
The Yorkshire Dales – probably up in Swaledale. Great walks and fantastic roads for cycling (Buttertubs Pass and the road toTan Hill).
Breath-taking scenery and to top it all, the little fish and chip van comes up the dale on a Friday night!
Three words to best describe you:
I think I would have to say Middle-aged ( it comes to us all!) ,happy and conscientious
The continued success of networx is a direct result of the people we employ and every member of the team plays an integral part in our ability to deliver innovative and market leading recruitment solutions.
Together we are #teamnetworx.
