From industry influencers to 8th grade pianists, from marathon runners to expert cake makers our employee spotlight is designed to shine a light of just a few of the talented individuals who work at networx. This month we had the opportunity to sit down with Head of Technical Operations, Tom Wyatt and asked him the following questions:

How long have you worked at networx?

I have worked with networx for over 5 Years now. Originally I joined as a Support Developer and have progressed my career with networx. I was promoted to Head of Technical Operations just over a year ago.

What does your job entail?

As Head of Technical Operations, I manage both the Service Desk Team and the Technical Operations Team.

I am responsible for;

  • Managing the support services we provide
  • Ensuring our software as a service is always available 24/7 365
  • All of our IT Infrastructure
  • Bug fixing and Developments
  • Deploying and releasing all the latest bug fixes and developments

In a nutshell, if it is a technical issue or query, either me or my team will be involved.

What do you like most about your job?

The challenge, problem solving and helping people! Working in the thick of IT operations is what gives me the buzz. No two days are the same and I am constantly challenged with different problems to solve every day. Solving problems to help other people is the thing I love the most.

What is your motto or personal mantra?

Continuous improvement. Whether it is work or personal goals, continuous improvement is my ultimate motto for everything I do.

What is the one thing, you can’t live without?

My piano – I have always been musical and played a little one handed piano as a kid but not properly. I bought a piano in February 2020 which as things turned out was perfect for the start of lockdown! I play a lot of modern classical. My favourite is anything by Ludovico Einuadi. I am currently learning another of his pieces call Ora.

15. What is one food that you cannot resist?

Cheese! I love the stuff. My favourites are anything smoked, regional cheeses like Wensleydale and Cheshire. I also like a good Brie. Cheese is by far my favourite snack, I can just eat it on it’s own straight out of the fridge.
